Had both at3 and geolander in the same sizes and they are great. only issue i had was with punctures but the same area will get most tyres, not matter how good unless you get kevlar wrangler tyres which are expensive.

people rate STT for their side wall, but they are notorious for digging rather than traction. more hinderance than help especially if you are stopped or stuck.

From my experience: Coopers AT3 Light Truck for sure. 50,000 kms so far and no issue.
I had geolanders before; they are great but too many side wall punctures...

My first set of Cooper , 80000 km with no single issue , my second set 3 sidewalls.
Other than the sidewall problem , which is a matter of luck , the performance is great

Cooper AT3 VS yokohama geolander ATS

I have the Yokohama and am very happy with the performance so far (still very new though). I have not tried the Cooper. I hear the Cooper are a lot more expensive. I paid AED450 per tyre for the Yokohama's. BFG KO's and KO2's have a very strong sidewall (I have had pulled sticks out of them a few times, but no puncture), but don't like their sand performance. Yokohama's are much better.

I tried both, Cooper AT3 was not pleasant experience and had to change at 25000 km always had issues with balancing

15000 km with geolander and happy with them so far

i got the BFG KO2's 285/75/16 installed last night from stock BFG 265/75/16's.. Not yet tested on sand but they are heavier and meatier tyres with thick sidewalls ! Had 1 puncture in 3 years with my stock BFG's. Any reviews on sand performance ? or tips ? that is my concern now....

It depends. I have 285/70/17 KO2's on a Landcruiser LC200. In the desert it performs with no issues.

I also have a FJ Cruiser with 285/70/17 Khumo tires. It is better at floating and setting off, but generally, unless it is really soft you would not really notice the difference.

However I air down to 8 PSI always which will make a big difference to the BFGs.
