Hey all, random question - I know and understand the difference between octane 95 and 98. Does anyone prefer using the higher octane super 98 for desert trips? Has anyone experience a "better" performance from your vehicle? #thinkingoutloud

using 98 (super) for the Mustang 5.0 most of the time. I can "hear" the difference when using 95 (special) when cannot find super...

sometime using 98 in the grand cherokee, and it makes a difference, but i have a high output V8 engine inside... so, the more powerfull the engine is, the more you'll feel it goes better...

and finally, using also super for the Ducati...

if you can afford to pay 6AED per filling, no doubt it worth it.

I use 95 octane Special in both of my vehicles (the other is a 2006 Mustang GT 4.6L). The Mustang is tuned for 95 octane and my Jeep's engine only has a modest 9.25:1 compression ratio.
There's no advantage to using 98 octane Super unless you have a high performance engine that's tuned to run on that grade of fuel (like Xof's 5.0L Mustang). Otherwise you're just wasting money buying more expensive fuel that your engine doesn't need.

Agree with Dino and XOF ... I am using Super in my Porsche Cayenne GTS and it makes a big difference if I use "Special"

For the Wrangler they are both the same ... So why pay extra money for nothing

chief i am using SUPER (Blue) for my Wrangler the performance is way better and Fuel consumption is much better, during off-road you will feel big difference in the car performance.
if the car engine Tunning is done you cannot use lower Octane this will cause engine knocking.
