Why your LT tyres are not balancing

I found this article in a South African off-roading magazine interesting.
Question is who's got a Hunter Road Force balancing machine? I haven't specifically concentrated on the brands, but am sure I saw some here in UAE before.

***** EDIT to add details of shops using HRF with very good results ********

Dubai
  • Future Tires Trading and the phone number is 043790900 or 0505822044
Abu Dhabi
  • TBC

Hi Thom,

Helpful article. I have have the heavy LT BF Goodrich tyres and have tried to get my tyres balanced at Tyrepower and the Toyota dealer. Neither of them could do it properly and there was still a slight wobble.

I took them to Arctic Trucks and explained the situation. They said that the tyre shops and dealers don't know how to use their machines and instead of relying on them for all their tyre fitting needs, Artic Trucks was forced to purchase their own machine (they said it cost AED220k, but I have no idea what brand it is). Anyway, they balanced my wheels and they were perfect, no wobbles at all. I think they charged AED250 which is the same as other places I have been to.

Thom thanx for the article its self explanatory, most of the tire shops buys their machines and keep using it till it broke dwn, never re calibrate or do roper maintenance which eventually cause the wrong balancing, another major reason is the after market Rims which is not seated properly on the axle then u need to look for special spacers or machine it to fill the small tinny gap.

After having had half a popout on the weekend, I could see there was a bit of sand around the seal and suspected there was some inside. Decided to get all tyres balanced up properly and was driving around looking for a tyre shop. The one google maps took me to did not seem to exist, but I passed another one on my way there. I am standing here now and believe it or not, they are balancing the tyres using a "Hunter Road Force Touch" wheel balancer. The shop is located on the other side of the road from Munich Motor Works and down about 100m towards SZR. It is called Future Tires Trading and the phone number is 043790900 or 0505822044. I will let you know after I drive home whether they are any good!

Just arrived home and I can honestly say that the steering is better than it has ever been. There is not even the tiniest shake. I can highly recommend these guys (the shorter guy from the Philippines / Thailand (not quite sure which) really knows what he is talking about.

Excellent. Good to know. Do you have a google maps location for them? I will update my first post and maybe we can build up a database for the Hunter Road Force machines. :D

The guys here are very friendly and helpful, but I don't have a lot of confidence in their skill. They wrecked one of my tyres taking it off the rim, and did not use the Hunter machine that applies road pressure to balance. They used a different Hunter machine. When I asked why they were not using the "good" one, they said that they only use that one if customers complain of wobbles. Hmmm....

As it turns out, the wheel balancer at Arctic Trucks is a Hunter Road Force as well. If you are having any sort of issue, I would highly recommend these guys. They do know what they are doing and will get it right.

Hi
Is there perhaps a place in Abu Dhabi that you could suggest to get the balancing done?
