FJ shift lock issue
Was wondering if any of you have experienced a shift lock issue with your FJ.
Second time in 4 months experiencing issues with the shift lock, meaning when the car is in Park cannot remove the key out of the ignition as it gets stuck.
Shift lock was changed under warranty by al futtaim in November and the problem was resolved for 4 months, however facing the same problem once again.
I am able to remove the key only when I shift to Neutral..
Any of you experienced something like this before? Any thoughts on this subject (apart from buying a jeep :p)

FJ shift lock issue
Sorry never experienced this. However one thing which may impact this is if you are not really in low or high range, purely a guess though.

And here I was reading that our position was not to favour one manufacturer or vendor...
Alternately you could deal with Toyota for a solution to your shift lock issue...certainly there are marshals and experts here who use FJs....
I personally think your FJ spends too much time in low gear...and is not shifted there manually. That's just me....

Re: FJ shift lock issue
Thank you Dakar and Zeebzog for the advice.
According to Toyota I am dealing for a second time with a faulty part that has nothing to do with my shifting. There are two cannulas/sensors that connect one in the shift box another behind the ignition so when the car is in P these two dont "communicate" properly.
A temporary advice is to shift the gear to Neutral then to 2nd gear(this movement makes these two canulas connect as if in Park) then back to Neutral and then I can take the keay out and park properly... Too complicated until they change the shift lock once again.
glad its not an FJ thing only Dakkar

Hey!!
Forget about the jeep thing. Sand can do wonders you may just need to clean the ignition or the gear box where there is a sensores!!
One of the lights on my dash bored was not working and turn out to be that sand was the issue. Getting like isolated circle with the socket.
Best of luck

Hey there! Hope you doing well Rob
since I got my beloved FJ year ago and like on weekly basis I'm out driving low gear I don't think it has any thing to do with it.
P.S on sand I always park with handbreak ONLY

Re: FJ shift lock issue
Hi
I had issues before with gear box
Way too much sand in there... not sure why.
Just remove the gear box cover and wash away all the sand
AFM will also do this for you for free... it s easy
No need to buy a Jeep
Good luck

Re: FJ shift lock issue
never face such issue, i will not be surprised to know that the sand is behind that, however; it is very strange that after they fix it, it came again in short period
