Nissan 2013 patrol swb M/T

Post by Desert Ranger »

Dear Friends

I have a Nissan Patrol 4.8 manual transmission, i like the car for the dunes, but i have issues in power, what can i do to be able to climb large and tall dunes. 1st gear is short and the minute i put in 2nd gear while climbing tall steep dunes, i lose power.

I would also like to put in beadlock rims with 33 size on them. Which beadlocks are currently available for them. I checked with method they dont have them.

If i would be able to solve this power issue in terms of climbing tall steep dunes eg. iftar bowl. It will be great.

Awaiting to hear from you your valuable advice.

1- good tires (33" is a good choice with a proper lift kit and bump-stops)
2- headers and exhaust system will improve your 4.8 performance
3- engine tune (careful when buying a tuning service. make sure its a reputable workshop)
4- Finally i would recommend changing your differential ratio. you can buy a used set of F/R diffs with 4.5xx ratio from sharjah for 5k. the ratio is grate in the sand but will reduce road performance. fuel consumption will increase by 15%

Dear anTrax

I highly appreciate your advice.
If you could help me as in where do i start from, do i start first with tuning or with headers and exhaust system or directly go for diff 4.5

I would be thankful to you if i had an oppurtunity to talk to you over the phone to discuss in detail.

I would begin with engine updated and tires

1- lift kit and tires
2- exhaust, headers and filter
3- difs

To answer your question yes a stock jeep will outperform the stock nissan but once modified a nissan will outperform a jeep power wise but can never achieve the stability and agility of a jeep.

Add a turbo with intercooler and have the ECU custom tuned on a dyno.

Dear desert ranger

I agree with antrax exept changing the diffrentiial

the only thing you should do is

- headers & exhaust - I recommend to buy it from patriot performance , they have th enest headers done for the 4.8 engine you will be feel the increase in power right away .
- tunning :
if you wanna tune the your factory ECU the best one you can reach is kerbash his number is 0506506735 he is the best in tunning the factory ECU , if you want the optimum throttle response
go with factory ecu tunning to increase your RPM + install UNICHIP Q4 you will have the optimum performance escially the throttle response . I have it on my car and iam very happy :)

tires & lift
as khaled recomneded me to buy yokahoma 285\75 16 with a proper lif and you will have a beast .

thank you .

Thank you friends for your sugesstions and advice.

@kalemaro
I am in the process to goto kharbash and do programming on existing ecu.
Im not sure if i should install the exhast and headers as it is not allowed? What do you suggest? How much does it cost?

I have installed king shocks and standard height kings coils. If i install the 1.5 inch kings coil will i be able to fit 285/75/16?
