Tire/Tyres for FJ Cruiser - urgent due to sidewall puncture.

Post by Zeebzog »

I have an FJ Cruiser Xtreme with Toyo A/T Open Country tires (285/70/R17), seem to work well.

Unfortunately because this size tire is no longer available in UAE I need to swap all the tires

Any advice on what is a good tire for sand and road from the FJ owners out their? Need to be on a R17.

Thanks!

Lee.

the tyre side wall puncture was from the inside where the accel is or out side,
most probable from in side. le me know the we will talk about the tyres

I've used yokohama Geolander ATS and BF Goodrich At and found both ti be great - Geolander a lot cheaper and just as good (at least for what I was using them for)

Hi Dune Rider. It is on the outside, near the out edge of the tire (still inside the tread markings on the side of the tire). Currently a small leak losing 8psi a day.

the reason I asked coz normally it is from inside , for wider tyres , the accel careir is bent toward the tyre , and with biger tyres when goes upand down it rubs and punktures.
any ways , michelin cross terrain 275/65/R17 is very nice tyres and I think u will be happy with it

Well I struggled because of the rim size to get anything, maybe it is the time of year.... In the end I am sat here at Al Karam in Musaffah getting Kumho 285/70/R17.

A couple of people seem to use in AD4x4 so hopefully all OK.

I would recommend Yokohama Geolander as well. Cheaper & even lighter (it floats on sand) been using them for almost 2 years
