Metal bumpers illegal?

I am new to UAE region and have been getting conflicting stories on whether after-market bumpers are actually illegal or not?

I understand that there may be an issue with the annual inspection and therefore licensing, but my vehicle will not be due for inspection for a couple of years. If these bumpers are illegal, do I run the risk of being pulled over and vehicle confiscated/fines, etc?

I had them on my beloved TJ

and never faced a problem

I haven't heard of anyone having issues with police etc except registration time - some folks just put the original back on at Muroor time..

I know of two individuals that had a metal bumper and got into an accident in Abu Dhabi. No issues.

I don't know. Clearly it is stated that they are illegal; however, it seems that no one really cares except during registration time....

Myself.... Still hesitant to go for metal one
My thoughts about it till now for When -- inshallah -- I'm back to the sand, most probably will keep the stock

I have a metal front bumper on my JK and just swap it for the stock plastic one when its time for re-registration. Its been on there for a long time now.

I have not had any issues with the police or Saad and I have been stopped a few times

I was told at one of my registrations when I tried to get it through with the metal bumper and then had to change it, that I was now free to change it back to the metal one and have a year of fun : this was by the Chief Inspector at the registration place in Mussafah!

Metal bumpers are illegal - if you are asking about the UAE Law.

Yes, you have the risk of being pulled out and be asked to remove the bumper and get the car reinspected again.

The above comments are all individual comments and are not related to the country law. The law clearly says it is illegal.

Thanks for all the comments. I have managed to come up with a solution to fit winch in the stock bumper as well as lights. I will just have to continue straightening it each time I catch the side on a side-slope! Funny thing is, the whole stock bumper is metal anyway straight from the factory!
