JK Metal Bumper Upgrade options

Post by Idaho »

Hello Folks,

I am looking to purchase a metal bumper for my front stock JK. I intend to buy a winch eventually so it needs to be compatible with a M8000. I've done some research but I'm not convinced that any particular bumper stands out. Oh, and I'm trying to do this below $1000.

If I were to order one from Quadratec today I think I would go with the Smittybuilt XRC Modular MOD with the full width endcaps:

Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

Brian

Have been considering shifting my off road Jeep bumper with a bumper with space for a winch.

So far my conclusion is that you either buy one of the real basic one like this:

or go all the way and get the original Jeep bumper which is, by far the best looking, in my book.

Will also appreciate comments from learned members - as in two minds whether to get a winch.

So I've looked at the cost for a standard Jeep bumper on quadratec. I came up with this one:

Doesn't look that bad actually. I have to imagine they are welded pretty good. Any other options? recommendations? preference for one type over another and why?

Thanks.

Word on the street is that the AEV bumper with the plastic bumper caps are far more likely to be approved by Muroor. Don't know if anybody has any first hand experience with putting it through the test. I should have news on this in the next 6 months.

I am in the same boat and am leaning towards the Warn Elite series full width, although the XRC is also a contender. I priced up a Quadratec delivery - circa $800 for delivery charge alone (did have a few other small bits on the list, oh, and a winch!). Ramy stock the Warn Elite.

Keep an eye on dubizzle as well, bits for jeeps come up quite often as people upgrade or revert to stock for selling I guess
