245*75*16 or 245*70*17 ???

Being on the point to install a lift kit, I have the possibility to "upgrade" my tyre size from 235*70*16 to bigger....

the lift kit dealer says i can go to 245*75*16, which is good to me, but I've seen exactely the same car as mine, already lifted, but with 245*70*17.

Then the question came to me : 245*75*16 or 245*70*17 ???

I've searched on many forums what could be the pro's and con's for those 2 sizes, but haven't found anything relevant...

I would think that having tyres thicker (so 245*75) gives more confort & traction when defleted, but less whilst on the road...

Any tyres expert reading this forum to gvie me some advices ?

What kind of car do you have? If we're talking about a JK then you can definitely go wider than 245, I would go for a 265 at least...

That said it really depends on what you want out of your ride and how often you expect to go offroading with it. If it's your second car you might even consider going all out and getting something with a lot of grip and that looks

Generally speaking though, the greater the profile of the tire the more rubber you have on the sidewall and yes the better that is for offroading. Your tires are probably one of the most important elements of your offroading experience, invest wisely

Plenty of debates and information on this forum regarding tires. No 2 people will give you the same answer on what is the 'best' tire to choose. This is all very subjective and depends on your driving style.

I'm sorry, I just noticed your signature showing that you have a Cherokee, please disregard what I said about the size of the tire. I'm not sure what size shoes you could comfortably wear. That said, I still think you can fit wider than a 245

if ur jeep chur> is the old shape , and have 2 inch life . u can go for 265/75/16. if it is a 17 rim then 265/70/17.
the new type and the grand chur. is defrent , but generaly u can use 265.

the real question is the size of the rim (diam and width). then you choose the tires that goes for your fender clearance. It's a common practice to go fo small diameter in rims for sand driving, as it will allow the tire to bulge more (taller tires side walls).

from my own experience, go for the 16" as your cherokee fender clearance, 8" wide. If you can find GT wheels, go for them ( if you like the look)

Hi, I'm new do this group, introduced by Thom. This could be related to the topic with Mikouze. I'm installing a OME full suspension lift kit (2") on my Jeep Cherokee KK next week (had to ship from the US). I'm going to put on the GT 16" rims since that is all I could find. Question: does anyone think I would have a problem fitting 245/75r16 MT's? And does anyone know where that size MT would be in the country or Duratracs from Goodyear? The only ones I've found through UAE Wheels is Deestone Mud Clawer and there are very few reviews...
