Lost and need to decide

Post by Mozi »

Hi friends,

Without too much mumbo jumbo, here are my choices:

1) My H3 with a supercharger from Liberty which should take me to 308 bhp.
2) Dont touch my current H3 and wait for the V8 end of year; no additions.
3) V8 end of year + supercharger, should take me to 400 + bhp.

Would appreciate any rationale on why and why not....

Best

Supercharge = cost = differnce for V8

308 BHP = cost = 400+ BHP
Life is too Short, nothing to argue about, specially with closed minded

Thanks mega for the welcome. I am itching for the season. Looking forward to see you in Khaiwi trip this friday

Mpenzi, the prices are not out yet, but the sales guy at liberty said he thinks it will be around 170, I feel it will be more like 190....

Apparently, they reinforced body and suspensions as well. Khalas I will wait for it. I feel like making a muscle monster truck. Hope my bonus will support the plan!

I am with V8 + Supercharge ... this will be a monster ....

Or ofcourse my normal advice .. Keep the H3 for road and buy a wrangler and you will feel the real monster .. Mac can give you a hint as he drove both offroad

I,m still getting used to H3 and haven,t really had a chance to give it a good blast as I have been leading/sweeping so far. It definitely needs KN filter and cat back exhaust. Baz says a big difference. Mind, when I put KN filter and cat back on my Wrangler it was a big big difference as well. I have to get used to the auto gearbox as well but it certainly has plenty of torque.
I think that the V8 H3 will be very powerful but there is always the weight issue as compared to the Wrangler which was much more manouverable.
I have just been reading a H3 review. it came second only to the Wrangler, so that cheered me up. NO sign of Nissans though in the report.

I think that the driver also makes the biggest difference, no matter what you drive, as I have seen demonstrated by several of our members.

I bought mine for all round use. Road Comfort, Mountain trips, space for family and so far it ticks all of the boxes. I didn,t need 2 cars and I didn,t want a new Wrangler sat around all week just gathering dust, that was my choice though, and I have just bought my daughter a car back in the UK

Stick with the H3 and wait for the V8 if you feel you need it.... first 10 arriving here in Bahrain in a month... :)

Please bear in mind, the front diff on the H3 is not as strong as it should be (aluminium) so sticking a supercharger on the current model, is a guaranteed precursor to the diff going bang - it won't cope with the power off road

That said, the Alpha - V8 - has a cast iron front diff, so if you where to stick a supercharger on that, it'd most likely be okay - apart from warranty issues on your engine / drivetrain if anything went wrong

I've already had one diff go, and replaced under warranty - however, the dealer screwed up the install and it's now in there getting replaced as I type - I hope Liberty are better than our lot for anything which is slightly outside of normal servicing!!!

Other than that - they're an awesome piece of kit!!

Cheers

Choice number 2 "Dont touch my current H3 and wait for the V8 end of year; no additions."

First of all you will not have to worry about the money you have spent on the mods.
Then, When you get the V8 you maight be satesfaied with its performance and if not, you can check the best choices after using the car.

I heared that it will cost 190000 Dhs as well
Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.

Thanks for all the feedback. I will wait and see what the V8 has to offer... The nice thong is that the supercharger can be installed by the dealer and does not void the warranty.

The one car for all approach fits more for me from all perspectives. I like to off road in comfort :) even though I understand that passion for a specialized wrangler.
