Tire size

Post by halwa »

I have just completed a 2.5" lift on my YJ wrangler and would like some advice on what size tires to fit, and where to buy them.

Thanks.

The best size will be the 32", but take care, you need to change the Ring & Pinion Set up because you will loose power.

BF Goodrich, Mickey Thompson, Cooper SST are the brands that I know is good and have the 32" size as well

Is the power loss very noticeable with 32", is it still driveable in desert conditions?

Thank you for your valueable comments!

Guys,

here you can see how different tire sizes and Lifts look on a Wrangler. Let it load first

Halwa, I have the 2.5 OME lift on my car, I used to suffer before upgrading the R&P specially when climbing up a dune ...

The car will do well in the normal driving conditions, but who drives a Wrangler normally in the desert    What you can do for now is to start with the tires upgrade and see how will the car perform, If you feel it is OK for you, then no need for the R&P upgrade ... However, keep in mind that after joining some trips in the winter, you will say I need more torque .. and this will only come from the R&P .... All of us went through the same curve and ended up with the R&P upgrade so I am giving you the short cut

yeah i agree with the Boss ... either 31" or 32" then try it ,,, if it does work out then you can go for the R/P upgrade

Congrats Halwa, 31" is a good choice if u have no plans for a major debit to ur bank acct for the R&P upgrade. I had the 31" and 3" lift on my jeep for quite sometime, but after deciding on lockers and R&P and fitted them got the 33" tires.

Thks Diver they are realy great man. Khaiwi thks for the info, at the moment I will leave it as is although I have been adviced to take it easy with the YJ R&P. Thks for all the advice-31s with standard R&P is just perfect.
