Oh My ..... If the hosting company can not recover to a point in time, even a month old or more, then they are seriously incompetent. Especially if you paid for regular backups and they don't have any. Sounds like (and possibly is) negligence.
In any case, I'm not claiming to be a computer expert but any chance there is a backup of the old forum when the software changed over awhile back? Maybe a lot of the threads could be recovered that way (like when they originally converted them over) we'd lose a year or so, but it would be better than almost all the posts.
It seems we have a number of IT geniuses on the board so hopefully all their feedback will get us something tangible and we can resume.
I'm alos ready to throw in a donation to the forum for setting up a proper contingency, offsite backup, swing server and so forth through a company over here in Kuwait. Just let me know if you're interested.
On a possibly productive note, Google caches a ton of stuff. I found about 2820 hits from http://www.ad4x4.com
Example, I pulled up a page from 2007
http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:jD ... en&ct=clnk
Pages and pages here:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=& ... f&oq=&aqi=
At least we might manage to pull the old threads … Just a thought
Night all,
Abdulla
