GPS + Salik

Post by CG »

I get very poor satelite connection with my GPS (Garmin 276) in my car.

Does anyone know whether the Salik toll-gate tag on the windscreen would interfere with this?

Thanks.

No it does not, I have the tag exactly above my internal antenna and have no problem .. The only people who are complaining from the poor reception are the ones installing the front 00% V.Cool on the windscreen

some cars, in particular Peugeots have a special type of windscreen and they do not pick up the satellite well for Gps's. It is possible to buy an additional antennae to plug into the gps which improves the signal.

I know this as i had a GPS in the uk which worked fine in my car but when i left the country i gave it to my friend and her and her husband both have peogeots and it doestn work in either of them

I agree that the most probable cause is the windshield. I had the same problem in my Chevy Transport in Sweden though it worked well in my 2nd car. The solution is to buy an external antenna (I bought mine at ebay.com cheap) and it worked really well.

Thanks guys. It probably is the V-Kool film I have on the front windshield. I may have to get an external antenna then.
