i wish i could help, but i can call myself a bit of a blond in these matters... but i will try and suggest something (might be something blond)!

if and only if the H2 engine can fit in your H3 hood... why dont you consider that!
the engine is pretty strong to be able to push the weight of the H2 very well, so it would be GREAT on the H3. might not be too expensive to get a second hand, giving that the prices of american cars in this country drop rapidly anyways... and you shouldnt face a lot of problems trying to get it working with your car...

this is if and only if it can fit!!!
You're speaking of an L92 6,2l engine ... it will probably fit, but he has to rebuild the whole drivetrain including the gearbox and so on ...
It's 400-450hp are really nice ... but it will find all weak points in the h3 drivetrain very soon.

The Alpha engine instead will be a nearly bolt on swap. And the gearbox can still handle it.

Sean wrote: Anyone had issues changing engine for a bigger one and getting rego card ammended? seems if it is a straight replacement just need to get new engine number, other than than, cant find anything about if its a bigger engine???
Any problems with insurance companies?

Anyone got past their next inspection if changing motor size?
Hisham (7 performance) seems to have enough wasta, to write a letter for the registration office (which they'll accept) claiming,
that the swap is done perfectly street legal.
After this it should be possible to register it.

I will have the same issue then. My Car is due for next registration in April / May 12 ... By then i can tell you finally ...

Update:

At this stage (may change, who knows) putting same 3.7 engine in......less than 6k on it....
Research shows as usual everything not easy with a H3, would be easier with something else....anyway,its worked to date so heres hoping....yes a big v8 would be good, but added strain on the rest of the truck and things that need changing to allow it to fit and work and manage the harsh environments (and driving  ) have played a part here and its my daily ride too and needs to be reliable and not in the shop......no comments here please....

Taking chance to do a couple of other things too....shocks/exhaust/lift front to remove rake/change winch line to synthetic and maybe changing to differnet bumper mount bla bla bla...

All up still heaps cheaper than a new engine...(even from the states which was looking a real possibility, even with shipping and duty)....
Thanks to all for your assistance and comments, really appreciated and some great contracts/resources shared , keep it up for others, thats true AD4X4 Style :D .....

Hope to see you all in the sand soon... :D ....very soon.....then some mid week night drives in Dxb to make up for time missed.....

Congratulations on getting a new engine - even if i still think a v8 :D ... yes, but sure anyway : reliability comes very first.

With the mid week night drives ... YES! i think there might be some more guys who have to keep up again for some missed drives ..

Trust me man and do a 5.3 engine swap. It is easy and straightforward and you won't need to change any of the components as the transmission, and axles can handle it. 8-)
