How was your trip today ? any issues ?

The trip went very well today, no issues at all. The more I drive it, the more I like it. I just does not 'go' at motorway speeds, but the torque in the sand is phenomenal.

There is still much to do, but I am slowly getting through it.

I guess you should replace your R&P and then you the engine will really shine. you have 31" tires right ? What Axles you currently have in the front and back ??

I installed the battery cut off switch yesterday.

I started by cutting of the off the old battery terminal and soldering on terminals. Heat shrink sleeving to insulate as much as possible.



I also insulated the bracket with a mix of HSS and tape.



Here it is installed...





Next job is to attach a bicycle cable and route it to the wheel arch so that I can disconnect in case of fire without lifting the bonnet.

All this because of the wiring. Discovered the NOX computer is somehow wired to the fan circuit...when you swith from fan level 3 to 4 the NOX computer shuts off. so FN what it is connected too....

How did that happen ??

because the previous owner had no idea what he was doing with regards to electricity?

I think the process went like this...

I need a 12V feed.

OK put hand up and under dashboard and randomly select cables until 12V found.

Strip cable, twist new cable around it. Cover it in insulation tape.

Cross fingers.

Frankie needed some organisation in the bask for quick access to the rescue kit. I was using tie downs before, but it took forever to strap everything in again after a stuck.

So I built a cabinet to house to trays:





The cabinet is held in place by two, easily removed, straps (in case spare tyre access is required).

The travel on the trays is limited by a length of rope.

There is even a "secret" compartment at the back accessible after dropping the rear seat forward.

I also added a cargo net just in case.

Yes, I am quite pleased with it. Because the trays just slide on their bottom faces, the cabinet need not be that heavy. I built it out of 12mm plywood.

But I think that you should somehow put a way to secure it from popping out accidentally. You know, something to hold the basket to the cabinet.
