Advice needed....

Hi,

New to this (a bit) and new-ish to area - have done a lot of off-roading around the world, but *not* on sand before...

So, had some desert lessons (with EDI etc.) to learn the basics and get some hours in and am now looking for a suitable "weekend" car...

I have a decent Audi for the week, so not worried about general use, but I want something like a prepared older LC or Patrol which cosmetically can be sub-optimal as I expect it to meet a few branches and rocks at the weekends... mechanically sound, good wheels & tyres, solid engine, chassis & transmission, working AC. Not completely thrashed. Reliable. Must be reliable.

I had a look at Dubizzle but the cars I went to see were most definitely NOT as described or had other major issues... I also visited Dubai Auto Zone but found it rather overwhelming as the choice was way too large and I simply don't know who is good and who is not... a friend got badly burnt by one of these guys...

I've mostly driven LCs (I'm a big guy), but in my last outing with EDI I was driving a Patrol and quite liked it...

So, any recommendation about where to go? I don't have time to mess about too much with doing stuff to the car myself - I would really welcome input here :)

Bearing in mind I'm happy with a good older car (reasonable condition & mileage) around what would I have to pay?

Thanks!

Hi Nicko, welcome to AD4x4!

My advice to you would be to check out the for sale section on the website. There are a few good cars coming up now and then, but you'll have to be patient. You missed some good deals over the summer from some of our members.
Good luck.

Hi. Thanks for the reply - I'll keep an eye on the for sale section, but I'm still looking for advice on commercial vendors who are known to be reputable...

Thanks

there is not such a think for second hand cars in UAE... actually, in middle east... If you want to be sure about what is for sale, you have to go for individuals, mostly expat leavings, or brand new.
