Shisha/Hookah - Who invented it

During the last weeks intermediate trip with marshals yehia, oliver and the team, we had a brief discussion at the BBQ joint about Sisha, Karak and its origins. It all started when Kevin started cooking the American karak (which was nice though) and Bisho started the shisha. when it came to the origin of them, most told their countries. likewise i told its from India!. They didn't agree with me however. but i remember i have read it earlier that it came from India. We didn't have cell network to google it.

Shisha and Karak being active members of AD4x4 and the fact that they participate in every trips, i thought it is really worth to discuss and conclude their natives.

This is the a Funny topic but really nice

I do agree with you that Shisha origin or started from India & so the Karak (Tea cooked with milk); The Hookah was found in north western provinces of India along the border of Pakistan in Rajasthan and Gujarat nearly a millennia back. They were designed to smoke opium, and hashish. The hookah made its way through the Persian Kingdom, which also included Pakistan, Afghanistan, much of Middle Asia and Arab parts of Northern Africa.

So shisha origin is from India , Cool , for many years Egyptians have carried this burden on their shoulders, Now I am happy to hear it comes from somewhere else , thanks bro !

According to Wikipedia that you quoted at the BBQ, there is apparently a strong possibility that Shisha/Hookah is from Persia:

Egyptian people were very healthy then the Indian & Persian have brought this unhealthy culture. The only difference at that time Indians & Persians use to smoke Hashish and Egyptian use to smoke their local brand like Saloum &Zaqlool. One day an Egyptian Farmer was resting under an Apple tree smoking shisha and an apple filled on his head so he holded with his both hands thinking to eat or invent and from there the Apple flavor has come up.
