FJ Cruiser Xtreme - Real deal or waste of money?

Hi All,

What do people think of the FJ Cruiser Extreme?

Is it a lot better than a standard model?

A base model (which the xtreme is built on) costs AED120k and the Xtreme costs AED 155k. Could you get a better off-roader buying a base model and spending 35k on your own upgrades?

Has anyone encountered any issues with any of the models including the extreme?

Would value any opinions.

Cheers, Al

My view
Buy new model
Add fox stage 1 lift 2" - get Arctic Trucks to do it so you keep your warantee.
And you have an Extreme
For nicer look change rims/ wheels/ fenders.
The rest is really cosmetics
Hope this helps :)

4 door jeep will cost less than 155k and without any modification will be great on sand and under an agent who is marketing the car for off roading and supporting our club.
Above is my personal opinion and hopefully no one will turn this topic to a war against Jeeps.
Good luck whatever your choice is.

The Extreme does not have Crawl control which you have on new model

Fj has a high possibility of roll over coz of high centre of gravity, I know many FJs rolled over.
I'm not trying to scare you, I'm just saying facts.

The 2015 xtreme has the a-track as well.

Fj is a very capable car, and can do amazing things as stock. Denise advise is very good.

I have an Exreme but the last model (2013). It does have A-Trac. For me it is a good all rounder, not bad on a road considering what it is and better than my capabilities off road. I have had no mechanical issues so far, but I would not advise anyone to trust the abs to stop you on a dime. In terms of rolling over on the road you would have to be pushing it. So far off road I have not seen anything that would cause this, but then again as a newbie this would probably be expected.

Do you have more details on 2015 Extreme?
I was referring to the 2014 one
I am very happy with my FJ: powerful / reliable / safe / comfy.
For me it s all about the driver and the offroad expertise of the people you go with. Bad recovery techniques done by amateurs can turn a great day into a disaster in any type of car.
Play hard but play safe
