GET READY – DesNav is back!
DesNav is a desert navigation fun that will test your driving, navigation and teamwork skills to their very limits under safe and controlled conditions.
EVENT DATE
The event will take place on Friday 29th January 2016.
ENTRY FEE
The entry fee for DesNav 2016 will be announced shortly.
TEAMS
Each team must have three vehicles. There are no criteria relating to club grades, but participating teams are advised to have at least one experienced member in the team.
THE fun
The DesNav Basecamp will be located at the centre of the DesNav fun zone. In that zone, a number of flags will have been positioned. Flags are rated as ‘easy’, ‘medium’ and ‘difficult’ and a combination of the difficulty and distance from the DesNav Basecamp determines how many points each flag is worth.
The fun is to visit as many of those flags in the allotted time, accruing the points allocated to those flags. Which flags you choose to visit, the order in which you visit them and the route you take to them is down to you! However, your team MUST stay in convoy, MUST return to the DesNav Basecamp within the allotted time and each team member MUST have a GPS device able to record your track.
Each team will be given a map and the co-ordinates indicating where flags are located.
fun LEVEL
You can choose to participate at one of two levels: ‘Navigators’ or ‘Scouts’. Navigators will be expected to solve more complex navigational challenges.
LOCATION
The DesNav fun zone will not be revealed until very close to the event date. It will be of challenging and varied terrain.
