Looking for 2-1/2 pairs of new shoes

It's time to part with my wonderfull 265/70-R16 HT Yoko's that did so much better than expected. But the lack of rubber on the non-AT sidewalls lead to 2 small punctures in 2 trips and although some shops are happy to fix those I don't like the idea of doing 139.9 km/hr on 2 out of 4 tires that have a plug in the sidewall.

So ... does anyone have 5x 265/75-R16's stored in the maid's room that are up for sale? I prefer
- Yokohama Geolandar A/T's, or
- Michelin LTX A-T's

... but open for other ideas.

Thanks!

I guess nobody stores spare tires in their maid's room, hmmm ...

Different q then; maybe a stupid one but I'm taking the risk anyway ... can you install tires either way on a rim, i.e. with the 'printed' specs outwards or inwards? Reason for asking is that I have BFGoodrich 265/75-R16's installed on the wife's XTerra but the outside profile is worn-down when the inside and top profile is not. In other words, the sharp rubber corner that is blamed for BF's to dig-in is a lot rounder now. I'm thinking about putting these on my Fortuner at 180 degrees (looking from the top) and let the XTerra drive on new shoes instead.

Where's a Maverick when you need one??

I don't think there is a problem with this swap, but there is a problem with the xterra's alignment, you need to check it before installing the new shoes
That is if you meant installing the white writing inside instead of outside, there is no problem in that

Problem is only with directional tires. Most street tires are non directional and there is a rotation marking on them IF they are!

the tires say "mount this side out" as long as you do that i guess youd be OK. as chafik said most tires here do NOT have a specific direction.

Thanks Guys! I'm guessing most (standard) tires are bi-directional so you can tire-rotate them left-right as well as front-back but I'll have another look at mine and see if I spot any arrows.

Any experience in the club with Dunlop AT22 tires? I understand these are the stock tires on FJ's and they're widely available along Salaam street in the 265/75-R16 size I'm looking for. Decent tire or avoid it?

@Mood: which (lonely) tire do you have?

If you are buying new, i would recommend Yokohama geolander, they are available in AD as far as I know, and most people who tried them, say they are ok, better satisfaction base than other tyres, having said that, I didn't get the chance to try them yet.

Not sure about that, if I were you, I would start from national tyres, and ask there, there are many tyre shops, one will refer you to the other, don't forget to negotiate well, and don't show them you are desperate.
Sorry, can't help any more, hope someone else will.
