Securing items in your off road vehicle for trips

Can I take this opportunity to remind everyone that you should all secure any loose items in your vehicle whilst on off road trips for safety reasons.

I am thinking about cool boxes, fire extinguishers, chairs, tools and other heavy objects which could cause you injury in the case of an accident, when they fly about in the vehicle.

Elastic cords can be used, but better still invest in a cargo net, they are not expensive and can be used to secure everything, thus preventing an unecessary injury.

Safe driving.

Mac

SO TRUE!!!

even "trivial" small items like small empty water bottles or the hard case of your sun glasses can be quite dangerous if they slip underneath your pedals after a rough shake  !!!

I remember I had a patient once who got knocked out and required stitches after he got hit in the back of the head by a tissue box during a collision.

Very good topic and I would add: never smoke in the car when you have fuel containers

I was in Ace Mina yesterday, but unfortunately they didn't have any large cargo nets Any other place I could try?

Can't wait for the Ace flagstore to open in Carrefour Mussafah any day now, their Mina place is always running out of 4x4 equipment.

i agree,,i witnessed once a pen went through the windshield during an accident causing a bullet hole,,imagine if it hit the driver !!!

u gota take care of the shackles as well,,even if they were attached to the snatch,,they might fly from the back during cresting or any sudden braking,,
