Leading Trips

I posted this in another thread a while back and never did get an answer:

Can anyone who is a member lead trips? Or does the form have to be completed first? I have the form and just need to give it to someone. I tried to get a small trip going last Sunday but I left it too late as I'd just got back from Liwa from another trip I was leading (not AD4x4) and noone managed to reply in time. Now I'm wondering if I can actually lead trips. Let me know. Cheers.

Basically - do you need to have a marshal on a trip for the trip to go ahead?

Hi Wayne...

As per the Club rules, only marshals or explorers can lead a trip.
I know that you are fully capable to lead a safe trip for the club members, but since nobody knows you in the club and you are still not graded according to our system,....

what shall you do!!

Open a thread and announce a trip to somewhere and ask for Marshal to help,
2-3 times like this , You'll be known, then a different action will be taken.

Well, for safety reasons, Leading trips is only allowed for Explorers and Marshals ONLY which are the experienced driver in the club, have a GPS and their driving skills has been rated and approved by the club management. You can read the grading system of AD4x4 which is in the front page of this website.

An immediate upgrade upto Explorer level could be done if approved by 3 Marshals together or recommended directly by our chief marshal or the safety officer.

to be Upgraded to a Marshal from an Explorer you should organize and lead at least 3 trips (One of them should be extreme) and upgrade might be possible if approved by the club committee based on the driving skills, recovery and mechanical knowledge and leading capabilities and skills.

If a Marshal is not active in leading trips for 2 months he will be down graded to an Explorer again.

Dear Iguana,

Wayne is known to me from other 4x4 clubs in the UAE and I confirm his entitlement to the explorer upgrade considering his driving skills, his technical awareness and proper attitude.

I guess Adiga also knows him well and can add more comments.

Excellent, thank you VERY much guys. I will organise some trips as soon as I get back from Doha (I work 5 weeks in Doha, 5 weeks vacation which I spend most of the time in Abu Dhabi). Look forward to meeting the crew soon.
