Use of Radios on trips

Post by Mac »

Just a gentle reminder that radios should be used in compliance with previous topics re this.

The agreed language is English whenever possible, remembering we are in an Arabic speaking country and some members do not have a good command of English as many of us do not have a good command of Arabic. :D

Please use the radios if there is a problem anywhere in the convoy as this alerts the leader of the trip who cannot see what is going on behind.

If it is obvious that the leader is out of radio range and cannot hear the call please use the relay system throughout the convoy so that hopefully the 2nd lead can hear it and inform the leader.

Thank You.

Mac.

:iagree: In addition once you have your new shiny radio, please remember to actually use it especially to give the all clear to the car behind or the NOT clear if you are having a little moment...

Good point and I also would like to add a small hint.
The radio is actually transmitting so you dont have to shout. Another good thing to make sure other people can hear you clearly is to keep the radio about twenty cm away from your mouth and not inside the mouth :-)

well said and couldn't agree more with all of the above.

Another wee gem re radio use, is to speak accross the mike, and not into it. Talking directly into is in effect blowing into it, and thats whats transmitted. Talking accross the face of it transmits more voice modulation and less wind noise.

Apologies if its glaringly obvious to you, however it may not be to some.

I have a set of radios from IGUANA. The charger blew after charging the very first time. Any suggessions on where to find a replacment charger.

Currently using rechargeable AAA in place of the battery pack. If its not possible to replace the charger then maybe I could give the battery packs to someone who has a working charger.

Sorry mike, maybe I was a tad cryptic!
By talking accross the mike, I mean talking accross the face if it, not holding it perpendicular or flat on to the mouth and catching all your breath.

No, I was just joking, but you could write MICRO instead of using the colloquial MIKE :P
