Thanks, Xof. :)

getting some bad ideas...
SWB Pajero 3.5l 2002 (25,000AED)
Lift kit 2" (4,000)
rim paint + STT tyres (5,000)
CAI (1,500)
Exhaust (2,000)

that's cheap for a nice new project...
maybe a new satin black paint too...
A few Long Beam Projectors...
Why not try to do a stroker out of the Mitsu V6???

rim paint + STT tyres (5,000) STT tyres (AED 2800) + One spare (AED 650)
CAI (1,500) I got used one for less than half the price ;) (still not fitted)
Exhaust (2,000) Not sure, but that range for a cat back only without headers/extractors
If it is a 2002 model, you may also consider a power programmer (around AED 1000)

For the stroker thing, I did not come across such a thing, although, I noticed that they play with engine cylender heads, but honestly I did not read further on the purpose of such.
My car being a 2010 model, I do not think I will dare to remove an engine bolt.

 thanks for the info, very usefull if i decide to go this way...

as for the stroker, the problem is that you need to get the car immobilized for a few months, and as you say, a old engine so you are not afraid to fukc it up.

ok, now i'm expecting the jeepers to tell me i'm crazy

Mamoun,

This gear shifting thing is in our model, 2007 and on. The Model years Xof is targeting (before 2007) can Bof Bof Bof on the first and any gear till the engine blow.

For the owners of the 2007 and on models.

Here is the in place setup for the traction control disconnect.

This setup did not void the warranty of the Paj. ;) Sorry for the pics quality.

Hi mamoun. i know this is an old post but maybe this is still alive (after 7 years! ). i drive a 2008 LWB 3.8 and im struggling with this issue as i normally drive on 4H first and second gear. upon going on a large dune with relatively higher speeds on 1st (tiptronic) , it shifts to 2nd at around 5,500 rpm which kills the power and the speed and gets u down the hell of course

recently im getting more "experienced" by keeping the throttle controlled to avoid going from 1st to 2nd gear on 4H or from 2nd to 3rd on 4LLC.

i could know that for 2011+ models the Pajero (LWB and SWB) wont shift to upper gears no matter what!! (me likey).

btw i do take off my fuse (ABS Fuse in the bigger Fuse box in the hood) while offroading and never had any issues after i had some hardtime with only the ASC off. :ugeek:

Up for the Pajero fun... after several short and long overlanding weekends, I’ve decided to take the plunge and get into more 4x4 stuff... just passed my ANIT here, drive with another group as well as riding off-road on the bikes. Back in the UK where I come from the Pajero (Shogun) is an expensive and respected capable traditional 4x4, keen to uphold its name here.... :P

My car is 2011 SWB 3.8L, stock apart from 2” TJM lift kit and switching to 16” rims and 265x70x16” Geolandar AT-S rubber... more to come. Had it 5yrs now.

Stock its a cable car, it’ll do most of what it’ll ever be asked off, has low ratio 4WD, mine has rear diff lock... lift it, put some AT rubber on it, it’ll do well... pull the AB relay to disable the TC when turned off... better than any mod from the off. 3.8L is powerful motor. It’s nice to drive, agile/nimble. Solid/reliable. SWB looks like a Tonka Toy. 8-)

Independent suspension splits opinion... just remember the Y62 has it and people swear by them... ;)

Against... auto box 1st gear is nice and long, useful overrev but sometimes too long to 2nd on climbs... could be doing with being shorter. Manual is better but a conversion job. Bumper is built for Mpg, not dunes... went as a L2 on a mixed drive (turned out to be L4+ as I was the only L2 (Improver)) there, near ripped it off going up a steep compound short slip face into side crest (berm) following a 4” lifted FJ - admit its too deep, get it trimmed and fit a bash plate. AC isn’t great... Dash/interior is a bit rattley. :(

175k, goes into the desert in 40-50 deg heat, never misbehaves, goes to work, tows between 250-600kg with ease; bike to trackdays at speed, 600kg into the trails around the E75 side of Sweihan to unload the bikes closer to the main loops. Good do it all car. Didn’t become a household name in rallying getting slagged off by people who cant drive jeeps.... :rin: :P

What about bumper trimming options for Pajero? Anyone care to share their trimmed bumper and bash plates for info to see what can be done?

I think there is only one or two active Pajero drivers in the club. Haven't seen them for a while. I haven't seen them with many mods either.
