Hi, I've just joined as a new member!
Although I've been in the UAE for the last 3 years (ex UK) and have been going into the dessert with friends I thought it was time that I learnt how the more experienced off-roaders do it.
I guess I'll have to register for an ANIT first, does anyone know if there is an ANIT trip/meet any weekend after this one? (Planning to drive to Liwa and Ghweifat this week-end).
If its easier call or text me on 0506157875.
Many thanks
Mike Singh

Hi Iguana,

My nickname is Benoni, I joined the site yesterday.
I am on the brink of being a Wrangler and would like to learn off roading.
Living in UAE for 3 years now, done some off roading with a Prado and liked it very much.

I reply because of your call to the new members.
If I get it right, I need to wait to subscribe to a NEWBIE trip until I participated in an ANIT?
When will the next ANIT be organized?

I will get my car at the end of the month so I would like to get started shortly after that....

Let me congratulate you with the site, still trying to find my way around it though :D

How can I change my profile, I would like to change my nickname...

my number is 0504458831

BR,
B

Hi All,

My name is Ian, I've just joined, and I'm looking forward to taking part in some trips very soon. I've been in Abu Dhabi for a long time, and never really did any off-roading. I'm very interested in hiking/trekking, and decided to trade in my saloon car for a Jeep (Wrangler - which I'm in the process of buying), so that I can get to some of the good places! Then a friend recommended joining you guys to learn properly how to drive it!

I will be coming on the first ANIT trip that I can. I'm not sure how soon you can take a brand new car out into the desert, though. Anyone have any advice on that? Anyway, after reading about some of the trips and comments here, and seeing the camaraderie you guys have, I think I've definitely found the right place to learn and to have fun. See you all soon.

Welcome to the club Ianc. I cant answer about how soon to take the Jeep into the desert, but am sure one of our more techie people will pop along and give you the right response.

If you fancy being a passenger in the meantime, then you are more than welcome in my car when I am next in the desert.

Hope to see you in the sand soon.
