Dears i thought we must share our experience for others to know more in case they had a problem or wanted to know further about certain 4wd.

for me since the club started i drove the following:

Wrangler 2005 -> Grand Cherokee 1999 -> Hummer 2007 -> Avalanche 2006
Small -> Bigger -> Bigger -> Bigger

I won't stop till i drive a train.

Used to deflate and drive during late 90's Toyota Carina then Toyota Crown on the beach and laugh at stuck Pajeros who did not deflate and forgot to engage the 4x4 digging themselves all the way down hehehehe

True 4x4 was Lada Niva, Patrol 2002 (Still have it from the showroom), 1998 TJ, 2005 TJ(Black Diamond :love1: ), 2009 JK (Kat's Rubiclone) and currently the humble Liwa-Rubicon :kneel:......... ...Kat's Xterra 2010 off-road edition is also still there.

Since in the club: Cherokee liberty 07 --> Wrangler JK 08 --> Wrangler TJ 06 (smaller, smaller, smaller... )

driven in the sand: Pajero 00 LWB 3.0, H3 2006 3.5, cherokee 2001 4.7...

the last one is the best one.

My 4X4 cars history were:

Before Club:
Wrangler TJ 2001 then GMC yukon 2002 then Ford Explorer 2004 then Dodge Durango 2006 then Mitsubishi Pajero SWB 2007 then Wrangler JK 2008. All were brand new and lost lots of money when selling them at low milage seeking for the next... :(

Since in the Club: Nissan Patrol SWB 2009.... FullStop.

My own conclusion out of all of that spending: Stay away from American cars if you want tough at feasible cost offroading. Some cars tells you " If you want to do it this way ...then after the trip you have to pay $$ for it " . Nissan Patrol never says that. This is my own experience and conclusion which might not be necessarily the case for others.

Despite that, my next truck will be Ford 150 Raptor and my dream car is Humvee H1...

Before the club too many to remember but mostly Land rovers:

Since the club, 2004 silver land rover Discovery 2 V8, White Land cruiser 2006 VXR V8 and now 2003 Silver land rover Discovery 2 V8. i suppose next will then have to be a white Land cruiser 2005 VXR to keep the pattern going :-)

Land rover great for sand and mountains + the drive home afterwards (this is what has put me off jeep for so long, then long loud hot slow drive home) Land rover like all cars used for off road will break and when it does it tends to cost a bit.

Land cruiser never any problems, built like a tank, great on and off road, even good through water just doesn’t have the wow factor of owning a LAND ROVER

If money was no object then I would poss. consider the new F150 Raptor...what a beast :-) or a hummer H1 the original

Forget my UK cars, too many to mention.

Since joining AD4x4 I have had the following 4x4s.

1998 Land Rover Discovery. Broke it!
2006 Wrangler TJ from new with Wildfire edition mods, sold it to get....
new 2007 Hummer H3, just loved it, then heard they would go out of business so sold it for same price as I bought it after 2 years! ( good result)
2000 Jeep Cherokee, modified it, Government said they would scrap all 2000 and previous year cars so sold it at a profit, then Govenment back tracked on implementing law!!
2004 Land Rover Discovery, sold it when company gave me a free Pajero.

Finally, 2000 Wrangler TJ,my desert toy as Pajero is not insured for off road use so bought the TJ for fun.

As child, loved the business trips into the bush with my father (East Africa). This was
mud driving, crossing on shaky wooden bridges or through brown river water. I liked
the Landrover much more than the Jeep.
Later in Saudi Arabia, flew over the Tihama desert with Toyota Cressida. Did a lot
of shovelling, did not know about deflation, nobody had ever told me. I just learned
that speed was the clou especially on subhka. For some periods could use a Nissan
Patrol that was much more fun than the Cressida. But all desert driving was in flat
area.
When joining AD4X4, started with Cayenne, learned about deflation and snatch rope.
I was so surprised that one can cross dunes. The bug bit and I had to get the Jeep.
Now improving driving and the machine in slow steps and having fun more than ever.
