Weekend wind down drive – Convoy 2 (19-11-23)

This trip report is for Convoy 2 of this morning’s newbie level trip ‘Weekend wind down drive’ announced by Tim.
Mr Magoo (Lead)
Vpuiul (Second Lead
Harry150
Ahmedrouk
DmitriiGL
Muzmmalcheema (Sweeper)
And Marshal Osama supporting the convoy.
With all drivers arriving bright and early at the meeting point just off the Al Fayah road north side, we had our safety briefing and set the convoy order to head out into the dunes.
Initially heading to the east, we meandered our way avoiding the rocky outcrops common to the area. The recent rains had made the sand a little firmer than normal with a top crust that was easily chewed up with our convoy tracks.
As we tracked east, we negotiated some slower technical areas and some more open areas of dunes, all of which provided plenty of opportunity to test how the cars handled in the conditions. Our route then took us south where we were able to pick up the pace and finally exit the desert in Al Khatam.
We had only a few minor recoveries of vehicles on the crest which were handled by the team with ease, and we made good progress as all drivers managed their vehicles very well.
Many thanks Volodymyr for a solid 2nd lead and Muzzmmal for sweep, and Harry, Ahmed and Dmitri for joining todays drive. Well done all and keep it up.
Special thanks to Marshal Osama for his guidance throughout our convoy and to Tim/Zak for announcing the drive.
I look forward to catching up on future drives together.
Thanks
Rob.
