Summer Adventure (Rob’s Lead) - Newbie Trip

We all arrived bright and early at the meeting location just off the Razeen road on the track towards the Arabian Village. As there was also another drive for intermediates it was great to see such a good turnout of vehicles. Thanks Zak for organising the trips.

We also had the good fortune to have Marshals Thomas Carlsson & Borja, Expert Regi and Advance Gerhard with us who all tracked the convey.

With the briefing done and channel frequencies agreed we set off down the track a little way before entering the soft stuff on south side.
The area provided us with plenty of opportunities to practice our straight crests and descents in abundance.

As the drive progressed we changed terrain from the tighter twists and turns to more open dunes and also had a change of second lead from Zak to Borja.
We had only a few second tries long the way that just required the use of the ‘go-faster’ pedal to aid in some of the small climbs and soft sand.

On checking the time we headed back to the inflation point to end the drive on-time.

To the newbie drivers, well done! It was great to meet you all and thank you for joining the trip with such enthusiasm. Keep it up.

It was very helpful for boosting our confidence to drive in soft sand and experimenting more with our vehicle.

Thanks you for sharing the safety concerns with the D-shackles and the effectiveness of the soft shackles. I'm soon gonna replace mine and move to soft shackles!
