Sunday Morning Newbies in Sweihan x 2 convoys

Able Newbies: Justyna, Subahar and Jithu

After splitting the large gathering into 2 groups we formed our convoy with Bishar as second lead followed by Newbies, Justyna, Subahar and Jithu, Thomas as sweeper and Asif and Irfan as roving support. We started our drive in the smaller dunes near the BBQ point and following a deliberate demonstration stuck by one of our support crew we headed into the mid sized dunes towards Nagrah. As our newbies developed a rhythm we aimed for the larger dunes.

After a few second tries and the need to occasionally re-route we began our approach and ascent to the higher dunes near Nagrah. To add to the excitement of the trip, at this point my Jeep’s alternator and battery chose to stop working. With help from all the Jeep was coaxed back to life in fits and starts, it was therefore decided that Asif and I would make our own way back while Andy (Scotchyl) took over the lead and wound the party down to the lower dunes and back to the inflation point.

In terms of driving our newbies showed a range of driving ability. Justyna: your driving is improving with each drive, well done. Subahar and Jithu you showed increased confidence as the drive progressed nevertheless, please remember safety is paramount. It is important to follow instructions at all times particularly when trying manoeuvres to develop driving skills.

Thanks to Bishar and Thomas for good communication and being alert as second lead and sweep. A huge thanks to Andy, Irfan and Asif for calm heads and solid support, your help throughout was indispensable.
