Calling on the desert warriors for a cold winter morning drive was always a fun but after some cancellations, the below warriors showed up
Nabil***
Saadeh***
Isham**** (Second Lead)
Falcon***** (Supporting Marshal)
The meeting point was Gate 12 Sweihan .One of the drivers was late and was advised to meet the group further up the gatch while the rest of the group played around the area.
The drive was reclassified to ADV 101 since it was Saadeh's first advance drive.
The safety briefing was done in detail and basis concepts of side cresting were explained. The sand especially in the morning was still wet and the crests were quite rounded and bumpy or flat at different places. This was a good thing on hind sight for the new advance members as they could safely try cresting in a relaxed pace.
The track was initially chosen to go over small and medium size crests only at a steady pace. After some time, the level was slightly increased in consultation with the marshal as the drivers demonstrated increased control over their cars and cresting skills.
We played around Gate 12 for some time and headed on to Nagra wherein a cameo lead by Isham led us to the top of Nagra for a grand view of the area.
Nabil with his Pathfinder exhibited good control while cresting and Saadeh on his first advanced drive showed great keenness for the level. I am sure with some more drives, he will be found on the top crests regularly .
This was my first lead trip and am very happy with the outcome. My thanks to Marshal Falcon and Isham for coming out in support for the trip .
