Lead: Emdoc

Support: The Baron, Ajesh & Testinwork (co-pilot)

Intermediate: Charlie

We all met on time, thanks to those who let me know they couldn’t make it.

After chatting to the Newbie convoy who were also there to enjoy Bu tais, the small convoy started out around 7:30 with Ajesh as 2nd lead, Charlie in the middle and Rene as sweeper.

After a short warm-up to decide the pace and level we set off into the beautiful sands of Bu tais. With our intermediate showing confidence and safe practice the drive was placed firmly at an upper intermediate level and we wended our way through the sands; climbing, cresting and descending the large and medium sized dunes and side-sloping whenever the dune faces beckoned. To help hone skills, some parts were long and fast, other parts were slower and more technical but it was always enjoyable, with breaks for refreshment, to appreciate the scenery and discuss four-wheeling. Eventually time ran out and we returned to the inflation point shortly after 11:30.

With some good self-recoveries, only one stuck needing recovery, and a pop-out for training purposes, all drivers showed good desert driving skills, wise safety-first choices and a sensible attitude throughout the morning.

A good return to a lovely area, thanks to all and look forward to the next time.

Michael
