Trip Report Sweihan Advance Intro Trip

8 great drivers met at Sweihan BBQ point 9AM for deflation of 5 FJs, 2 Jeeps and one Raptor. As this was an introductory drive, the safety briefing was thorough. The techniques for side cresting, what to do and not to do was discussed and visualized using a blue toy Raptor (thanks Matt for suggesting to use it instead of my plastic police car).

Advance: petro (Kevin), Febaez (Fernando), Tiago737 (Tiago), Futureshock999 (Robert), Mira-M (Mira), Billet (Ajesh)

Convoy was set up with Mira-M as 2nd lead, followed by Billet, tiago737, Febaez, futureshock999 and petro as sweeper. Matt was watching the convoy from behind. We started, heading toward the Nagra dune, after few minutes found a proper dune to test the side cresting skills, everybody managed well and we continued in easy path doing small side crests here and there, everybody managing very well.

Convoy moved steadily on, and eventually we reached Nagra, where we were all alone, and took a break. Sadly the place was full of litter, plastic bottles and other trash, I wonder how people are thinking throwing their trash where they are standing…we played some at Nagra and then headed back towards the BBQ point, now switching 2nd lead and sweeper between Mira-M and petro. Going back also in the bigger dunes went well, we had some second tries, but during the whole drive not one single stuck that needed recovery.

The track was intentionally easy but with quite a lot of cresting, all drivers demonstrated good skills and most importantly, good judgment and made correct calls to abort attempts to get on the crests if momentum was not fully there, very glad to see that.

Thanks for 2nd lead Mira-m, you had to change the track sometimes which you did well. Petro for sweeping first half (you had an easy job today) and Matt for the support te throughout the drive.

Thanks Thomas - brilliant track as always and a great drive with some lovely people. Everyone did very well and showed excellent judgement at all times.
Your point about Nagra is well made. It's so sad to see the place totally ruined.

It was a nice friday drive with talented drivers.The initial briefing was very methodical and purposeful track selection helped the drivers test out the techniques.

Nagrah in the morning with no one else around was a revelation.Got to see it again in the evening at its full glory on the intermediate drive.

Thanks to the marshals and drivers for keeping the drive very safe and educative.
