Hey Mpenzi, is the pic of the ruined ?mosque at Qalhat ? - I read they are building a huge development there, like the Bandar Jissah resort - hotels, luxury residence etc. etc. - its so beautiful in its natural state now, so if anybody has any doubts, get down to Oman and this area before it disappears.....

Thanks guys
This is the Must trip for those who preciate nature and a bit of history.

The ruins are Qalhat village are dated back to 15th century where this town was the centre of the trade between Oman, Gulf , India Iran and East Africa.

I think this was also the area where spread of Islam started. According to the Off-Road Oman book that is the Tomb of a holly lady called Bibi Maryam and the tomb is surrounded by the other grave yard.

The road will be Tolled when it completed and it cut time from Muscat to Sur and to Salalah .

Beutiful place.
