Late Entry: Intermediate Sunrise Trip Report (30.05.08)

Post by Jo »

I had posted it on facebook... Now it is where it belongs to 8)

This was the crew:

Marshals:
1. Jo 050 6172725, DBX *****
2. Waleed, DBX *****
3. Uristier, AUH *****

Members:
4. Tweety, DBX ***
5. Nessie, AUH, **
6. Kiwi, AUH, **
7. Aidy, DBX, ***
8. Mood, AUH, ***
9. Lars, AUH, **
10. Omar, AUH, **

Special Gues:
11. Adiga, AUH, ******

We joined the DBX and AUH group on Abu Sallaf North (deflation point) and hit the sand at 06:00h (Thank you Urs for collecting the AUH people).
After a warm up we challanged the high dunes scattered with patches of soft sand. The right location for our "new intermediate" (Kiwi, Lars, Omar and Nessie) to be initiated to the secrets of intermediate driving.
After the some tire popp-outs, stucks and crest parking (I could not even open the door) we reached the Dune Coffee Shop at 09:00h.
About 5km later Adiga and Aidy left for the Al Faya Petrol Station on the truck-road while the rest followed all the way to Al Khatim North. Cresting, sideslooping and the feeling of sandsurfing made the day.
Only a few Gazhals have been crossing our route (quite a number having fawns).
Just on time, befor the heat started, at 11:00h, we reached the tarmac heading to Al Khatim North Petrol Station.
Well, what more to say than thanks to all for following me through the sand and I hope you enjoyed as much as I did.
See you all out there again.

Oho better late than never

Early birds are speeding and Waleed passed the deflation point with full bast

Tire pop out & compressor killed and Bulldozer base plate broken but thanks to Adiga and Waleed the rubber went back to where it supposed to be.

A nice route with challanging spots and a good coffe stop. As "the last ones" we haven't seen any gazelles but enjoyed the drive, the heat and the great company.
