Mussafah Exploration Trip 10-5-2008

Post by DiVeR »

Mac, Mike & myself met @ 12 PM in ADNOC Mussafah & headed towards Mussafah for a 3 hours' drive 8)

Well :? Nothing much to say. Mussafah is all gone

From the outside, there is no sign of any heavy works in our old play area except for one Bulldozer (not Saeid  ). HOWEVER, when we hit the dunes we were shocked  No single dune exists anymore in Mussafah, the biggest dune is 3 meters high, the play area became only 100 meters wide & the route that we used to cover in 30 minutes before, we covered today in 5 minutes

We went all the way to the shooting range which is 7 KMs away from the play area, on the way there are couply of nice spots but they are very narrow & the sand is extremely soft that Newbies will not survive in :?

I enjoyed the company of Mac & Mike :P But was sad to see Mussafah like this. I believe the new members will not know what i mean :crying:

Thanks for the trip Karim & Mike, as always great company, shame about the dunes though, only about 200 metres wide now and to think we used to split into different groups in this area. Still it was worth the effort.

That is so sad :(

I have fond memories of my first trips there, getting stuck in my Liberty and finding out there were no tow-hooks on my car, our Iftar BBQ's during Ramadan .... very sad news...

What are they building there to take up so much desert?

Thank you Karim, Gillian and Mac for the short way back to the good old Mussafah days, unfortunatel nothing is left  Still it was fun to be out with you there, at least my old BBQ spot is still there and untouched ( it was the small area I took the lead for 10 minutes ).

Think we should change to Abu Sallaf as I do not like the Car Museum area so much, just flat on the left side and f***ng soft on the right side with nice rocks at the bottom of the slopes.

Saeed not worried about big dunes Liwa is for that just looking for newbie areas, some with flowing dunes others with short close together dunes that require technical skills, an areawhere newbies can learn these skills possibly without toooo much risk of breaking their car
