I've had my BFG KOs for 3 years with over 100,000 km on them and cannot imagine driving with anything else...
That is until I heard about the new KO2
I have had no luck finding these in the market so far even though they have been released in the States for a little bit of time. Has anyone seen these in the UAE/Oman?

Being able to deflate to 10 PSI and not worry about your tire popping off the rim is the fun. That's why I prefer a tire with a stiff sidewall and that's why getting the KO2s which are 1-2 lbs lighter/tire (that's almost 8 lbs of rotational weight) than my current KOs and still get 20% extra strength on my sidewalls is huge as far as I'm concerned.
I don't mind chilling out after a nice drive and waiting for my tires to inflate. It gives me the chance to chat with the others, have a cigarette and relax a bit before the drive home.
Vader the KO2 are one of the BEST choices regardless to the terrain, see the application on rally cars etc. But they are not available locally. I was told they are available in Egypt, so if you know a cheap way for shipping we can get them from there. I will go for a set without hesitation.

I deflate to 7 psi. In Liwa I go down to 5 psi. Never had a pop out !!!
In Liwa I just remove my tires and drive on the break pads, never had a pop out!

Stronger side wall should not automatically mean STIFFER sidewall!
Ideally a stronger sidewall is more resistant to punctures and damages through bushes and rocks.
For me a good tire has a strong side wall AND STILL a flexible side wall which lets the tire bulge out when aired down under the own wight of the car ... and complies to rough terrain and thus offers increased contact patch and traction.
I think MODERN tire constructions can achieve this by choosing the RIGHT rubber compound and ply materials.
The old BFG TA/KO is a very old design ... and as a light truck all terrain tire it did very well for a long time. I did not like it on the sand because of stiffness and a sharp shoulder edge.
I am very curious about the NEW KO2 ... did they manage to make it more flexible than before? Did they manage to design a less sharp shoulder? (Visually they did something)
A general rule of thumb which was valid for a long time:
DOT load rate C tires (historically only in non metric sizes) are more flexible then the load rate D and E tires.
I strongly hope that this general old rule of thumb will not be as valid in the future ... because load rate C tires (and non metric sizes) are becoming extinct!
Bouncing this thread to see if anyone else has views on the KO2s, does only one person in the club (Rothguard) use them? I typically run at around 8psi and occasionally down to 5/6 psi. Are they too stiff? Is the edge too severe? Do they pop out at this pressure?
