Posting pictures on other websites

Post by iguana »

As you are all aware, we normally post the trip pictures on AD4x4 Gallery after each trip which is something known to all the members. This is mainly made as a promotion to the club to show it's activity and part of sharing the pictures between all of us. However, I noticed that some of the members are posting pictures on Facebook and videos on Ytupe which is a more public websites and are accessible by so many people in this world.

Please note that some of the members (Specially ladies) does not wish to publish their pictures or videos on public websites, so just take care on what you are publishing in order not to offend any body.

Hope you all understand and wish that we remain a family that care and respect each other

I have a couple of thoughts...

Why is the gallery open for public access?

You could consider making the gallery restricted to only those that are registered on the website. It sort of prohibits anonymous users to take images and post them elsewhere. Although abuse of the images is possible despite this measure.

But it does force users to register, if they want access to the site and the content.

Even though.. it doesn't block a member to copy then past any pic from the gallery to somewhere else.

iguana in this case i think u have to block the gallery coz anyone can copy the fotos and i dont think that if we put fotos on face or wutever is a prob as long as we are not using the fotos for adult sites ( mainly all adult sites r blocked here).

better make people sign that no prob to publish their fotos .

by z way anyone can register on the gallery and copy fotos and use it unlegal .

better u find a solution , and i think that most people in z club r open mind

or u r afraid that we publish ur fotos with all the ladies on facebook ( i will be the first to do that :P)

Well Racha, for me, I have no problem

Having the club Gallery restricted means that we will have lots of useless members just to view the gallery. We had this problem before and we decided to open the website.

Members who join the club always know that we post the pictures in the gallery, and I had no complains from this.

We are on a public website, we post our phones and photos. I am just trying to protect as much as I can

Personally i am not worried about my photo being plastered about the internet, (its not as if i am doing anything i shouldnt be    )

however to cover the possibilitiy of someone joining a trip and not realising they will be photographed and thus maybe getting upset about it, perhaps it should be added as a paragraph to the idemnity information saying something along the lines of you may well be photographed on the trip and should you not wish for this then it may be better not to join the trip. This way the club would be covered should someone chose to get upset.....

Just an idea

Just a thought, why not just decibel the ability of saving a pic like disabling the right mouse button option on the page! .... I remember coming across some sites (no not that kind of sites :) ... I’m talking about E-Bay as an example some sells can prevent anyone from saving a pic. I’m not an expert but I couldn't find a way to go around it, maybe a snap-shot will work but the quality of the pic won’t worth posting anyway. Therefore, the outcome is the same, they will not publish it.
