Cone filter getting dirty most of the time, water might come in, but still it surely gives good perfermence, so i though why not keep it but hide it in a good way and boom, someone already have done it before.

Panty hose what about it??
Frankly I would Lose the 12 HP promised by the cone filter and re-install the stock sand trap (Black box) with combo paper air filter...leave the Back seat home and you will gain enough extra power if really power is the concern!
Here is the K&N page for Wrangler

Do you need cone extra 12 HP Vs. the frequent cleaning hustlle and potential demage of engine block if sand particles escape through the cone filter?? I keep asking myself why would shebab install cone filters in the most sandy off-road envirnment?

Unfortunately it doesn't increase the HP. The cone installation deliver higher gross HP (almost 3%) because of its much larger surface area of air intake. Such larger amount of air insure colder (to a lesser extent) and more oxygen to enrich the combustion.Bulldozer wrote:What about the panel type which u can put it in the box without any mod

I like the idea, but what will be the use of the cone filter then? I think you will loose the power gain because the filter will not get enough air to breath.
If you are into snorkel. Put back the stock filter box and add the snorkel with a K&N filter like I did.

Sand trap can be placed post the snorkel..so theoritically Sorkel is more suitable for the desert"iguana wrote:I like the idea, but what will be the use of the cone filter then? I think you will loose the power gain because the filter will not get enough air to breath.

1- Coder Air (again illusive some how) because of distance from the hood.... colder air gives a theoritical increase in Horse Power.
2- Cleaner Air being far above the tyres dusting zone...
Drawback is you have to drill the body and car is not liked by MOI ! may be by girl friend thinking you are an adventure traveller

Yes when the filter surface get clogegd by Sand... that is why you have to wash it with oil and Mind you are not allowed To brush it... just keep soaking it and wait for sand to leave the cone filter surface... a real pain in axc$$$ job..iguana wrote:I like the idea, but what will be the use of the cone filter then?
